Wiploc introduces self

wiploc introduces self…

  1. I’m brand new here. Call me wiploc. You can capitalize that if you want.

  2. I wonder what ### Introduce Yourself… means.

  3. I followed this link, Please understand the following 4 steps before getting started…, but I didn’t find any steps to read or follow.

  4. I’m thinking of converting a Ford Transit. I like the headroom.

  5. I’m tall enough that I can’t see under the mirror. This is a deal breaker. If I can’t lower the seat enough that I can see oncoming traffic, this project will be stillborn.

  6. So I need aftermarket pedestals.

  7. Any information about seat-lowering aftermarket pedestals will be appreciated.

  8. I tell bad jokes. Here comes one now:
    “I’m not a nihilist; I’m a hypocrite. At least I have principles.”

  9. Also, I’m a grammar nazi. If the staff here would like help with, say, changing “them selfs” to “themselves,” I’m available.

Welcome!

If the seat is comfortable at it’s current height, it might be easier to move the mirror.

Several of my rigs have had windshield mounted mirrors, and when they fell off, I was never successful at remounting them. Even when I paid to have them remounted, they never lasted. Then I found out I could suction cup mounted mirros on Amazon. Got s wide angle one, and it was better than the originals. It would still fall off a couple times a year, but could be easily remounted in just a few seconds.

For seats, electric seats usually raise & lower…

Behind the mirror, the windshield is black. I assume this is to protect electronics in the mirror from overheating.

So, if I remove the mirror, I still won’t be able to see a big chunk of the oncoming traffic.

If I get the seat low enough to see under the mirror then I’ll also be able to see under the black part of the windshield.

Here’s an image of a Ford Transit windshield:

Is there like a box under the seat, that the seat sets on?

If there is, perhaps a shorter box would work.

I was hoping somebody would know how much shorter some of the aftermarket boxes are.

It might be possible to shorten the original.
