Is this for a camper, or an off grid cabin? The composting process takes 2+ years, so unless you have a composting pile to empty it into, a bucket toilet is cheaper, simpler, and easier to use.
With a composting toilet in a camper, you’re going to end up emptying it into the trash anyway, so there is absolutely no advantage over a bucket toilet or port-a-potty. Truth be told, if being eco friendly is really important to you, a port-a-potty that you empty into a toilet is probably the best choice short of a full RV type system with holding tanks.
