Thoughts on repurposing a 17ft u-haul box truck?

Relatively affordable and can be found for a decent price, been wondering if anyone has had experience working with one?

I like the old U-Hauls, but I like the old Penske’s even better because they have back access from the cab, and some also had side doors already installed.

You can do that with a U-Haul too, but it’s a lot of extra work.

I have also recently changed my method from adding windows, to adding hidden cameras, and using lcd screens or projectors on the inside to make it look like there are actually windows there. The power draw is so minimal it really isn’t an issue.

Doing it that way eliminates the heat/cooling loss through traditional windows as well. Rain proof vents can be installed along the tops and bottoms of the side walls to provide passive ventilation, and low power fans can also be used to assist. I try to avoid putting any holes on my roofs.

For what it’s worth, I don’t like to run my wiring or plumbing through the walls either. I prefer to add them after the floor, walls, & ceiling are done, and then cover them with trim pieces for easy access at a later date.

Another trick I like is sliding doors on cabinets instead of swinging ones. I also use the old school notched, lift to open method on all drawers. Foolproof and durable designs from days gone by. I was involved in a restoration of a 1947 35 foot travel trailer which used these designs, and even after many years of use, abuse, and neglect, everything was still intact and working as intended. Even the wiring was simple and easy to access. Pretty impressive.
