This role provides technical occupational safety and health support to field and corporate personnel. The role is responsible for monitoring and health conditions to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. This field-based position provides support to projects by inspecting workplaces for hazards, identifying suitable controls, and assisting the field staff with implementation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities-

Safety Management-
Promote positive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and education to field staff and CWC Trade Contractors on occupation health and safety requirements.
Administer all aspects of the Corporate Safety Program at the project level.
Assist project teams in the development of Job Specific Safety Plans.
Conduct field inspections and provide observations to the project team through Procore.
Assist with safety audits and manage non-conformance reports to closure.
Provide immediate input, advice, and direction to mitigate potentially hazardous conditions and assure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
Supports incident investigation and maintains project incident reports on Procore.
Conducts weekly project safety meetings with each assigned project and documents in Procore.
Assist the project team to review upcoming work areas to preplan and determine if unidentified safety concerns need to be addressed before work begins.
Assists Project Teams to maintain project safety files & logs
Assists Superintendents to ensure that all safety signs and supporting equipment are adequately supplied to assigned project sites.
Safety Training-
Attend as assigned all CWC in-house and external training programs.
Provide input to the annual corporate safety-training program and perform Jobsite employee training as needed.
Produce training content as required.
Participate in and conduct specific training programs, as well schedule specific training programs. (Maintain required certifications).
Risk Management and Loss Reductions-
Provide field observations and suggestions regarding opportunities to improve performance and lower insurance costs.
Assist with claims handling and their resolution.
Assist in incident investigations and reporting.
Assist in returning and monitoring the progress of injured employees as they perform modified duty on our projects.

Knowledge, Experience, and Special Skills Required-
Entry Level Position.
Must hold a bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or a related field.
OSHA 10/30 a plus
Must have a good driving record that is clear of excessive and/or habitual traffic violations, points, or accidents.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Basic math and statistic skills
Works successfully as part of a team
Job Demands-
Individuals should be able to reach above and below, stoop and bend, sit, walk and stand. Individuals should also be able to lift, carry, and/or move items up to 75lbs. May be exposed to heavy machinery/equipment, hazardous chemicals, and extreme weather conditions. Minimum of 40 hours per week required. Works hours will vary depending on project requirements and may involve weekends and night work.

About the Job
Responsibilities of the Safety and Occupational Health Specialist include:

Coordinate all safety and health (S&H) compliance programs at the location of assignment
Conduct S&H inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and prevailing professional standards and practices
Develop and implement S&H policies and programs
Provide S&H training to personnel including managers and supervisors
Conduct industrial hygiene (IH) monitoring to verify personnel are protected from occupational exposures

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields or related studies:

Public Health
Safety Sciences
Safety Risk Management
Chemistry
GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4-point scale is preferred, but exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances.
