Hi, I’m planning on building my first van out and want to soak up as much quality info as possible. scouring this forum is on my list. if anyone has any good thread recommendation’s ill take them.
topics I’m wondering about
-solar/electrical
-bed frame (how to save space and not use 2x4)
-second row of seating (what kind of seats are out there)
-appliance recommendations
also best practice, i am a carpenter, I’m a stickler for quality work. i want to do it right the first time.
thanks for any information.

Hello! I too am just starting my conversion on a 38 year old 20’ box truck. I have been researching for about a year, incessantly so I have been told, and have been squirling away things as I could. If you are in the northern Va area, there are a lot of resources close by. I will have some 3" foam board left over when I cover what I need, but this 3"X4;X8’ R15 board can be had near Warrenton,Va and are $40. He had 500 sheets…As of 5/25. How long is your box truck? How did yours turn out? Did you get to video progress? For bed frame, I repurposed an aluminum rear pickup truck rack made out of 1" aluminum. I am going to have a hoist system designed in house and built for a king or queen bed over the living room Ran across a used like new MaxAire Deluxe fan for $60 Temu is a friend for a lot of hardware and everyday neccessities. I hope to have a recirculating shower, instant hot water, 100 gal fresh water, lots of solar and about 900 AH in battery bank. I have some powder coated steel 2X6s in 8 and 10’ lengths to help build out the granny’s attic over the cab and possibly some even over the hood. It will have close to a 4’ height over the cab too! I am retired woodworker, home remodeler; fixer upper. I’ll send the view from the side and the front from when I got interested.
