New from NE Wisconsin

Hi. After tent camping for decades, I think my husband, who’s nine years older than me, got tired of crawling in and out of a tent and setting up/packing in the rain! Not wanting to haul a trailer camper, he suggested a van camper! We purchased a new cargo van (Ford Transit) in 2024, and while wanting to convert it ourselves, we hired out for electrical, plumbing, and most other things for safety and practical reasons. We just picked up the converted van a few weeks ago and will be taking our first test trip soon, prior to a cross-country trip. Like our house, we kept the van as “healthy” and as eco-friendly as possible. My husband built the cabinetry using reclaimed wood, and walls are lime-washed v. painted.
I’ve been sewing our own insulated window covers, which has been quite the project. I’m looking forward to hearing what other van campers/van lifers suggest insofar as recommended products, helpful hints, great places to visit, great HipCamps, and more! ### Introduce Yourself…
