Hello everyone. I’m just starting to plan my first year in a van and am at the very beginning of this adventure and have looked online at many campers. I found a 1990 Toyota Dolphin for a reasonable price and am considering purchasing it for my first try at this life. In my research I have discovered that the most common problem with this 3.0 liter V6 engine is a failed head gasket. There was a recall and when I get the VIN I will be searching to see if this was done. I’ve also found that there are valve problems starting around 80-110K miles where the valves become “tight” and need to be adjusted back to factory specs. If this is not done it leads to valve burning and expensive engine repair. This is a new finding for me and I was wondering if there are RV’ers here who have this model (or any one with this particular engine) and can share any insights. This one I’m looking at has 120,000 miles so it’s there. Thanks for your help.
