I seeing some good deals on used Mercedes Metris Vans with and without pop tops. Size wise a Metris would be perfect. My one reservation is the cost of any repairs needed in the future. Thoughts?

The cost of parts & repairs can be very location dependent. I would call around… Call a Mercedes shop and ask their hourly rate, then call some other shops & do the same.
Next I would pick a common part or two, and compare the prices between the MB part vs. some other popular brand of car parts.
Then you’ll know whether the MB is more expensive in your area or not.
