Maximising head space. Getting rid of roof strengtheners

Hey guys,
What does everyone think about cutting out the interior struts that run width ways across the roof and replacing them with something much shallower but just as strong? I’m 6ft 4 and I’ve found a sprinter that is 6ft4 to the struts and 6ft6 to the actual roof. It seems like if i can replace those struts with something as I describe above, then I can have a tiny bit of head space if I insulate cleverly…
Do you guys have any other ideas I haven’t thought of? Getting rid of them altogether and strengthening the exterior of the roof?
Thanks very much

Greetings!

I think I would just pad them, and call it good.

Modifying them could seriously impact the resale value in a very negative way,

Cheers!
