Why does a inverter shut off for about 3 minutes and then comes back on when generator is running
You’ll have to supply more information, such as:
How big is your inverter (watts)?
How big is your battery bank and how much can it supply in amp-hours?
What gauge wire and how long is the wire run supplying the inverter?
Bottom line; if the voltage goes too low inverters shut themselves down.

It is normal for most inverters to shut off if the battery capacity is too low or insufficient, or the draw is too big.
Inverters are also terribly inefficient, and should be avoided if at all possible.
