Ideas for a platform

Hi folks, I’m new here and just getting started. I was wondering if I could get some practical advice off a bunch of you more experienced people.

I’m pretty comfortable with mechanical work & DIY, so I’m not scared to get something in rough shape.

  • i wanted something incredibly simple without the need of complex electronics

  • I also wanted the power plant to be an old diesel, possibly with the ability to run off red diesel & veg oil if it needed to.

  • ideally parts would be easy to source or fabricate.

I was looking at the old Volvo 303/TGB, but I think they are petrol, and they also cost like £10,000 so it’s scared me off a bit.

I guess I’m trying to find a place to start searching. Any advice would be warmly welcomed.

Depends on how simple you want to get. Check out Toyota Sienna camperized vans. Do a search on YouTube and see some of the ideas there

You didn’t mention your location, but the older Mercedes vans would seem like a decent platform.
