I’m putting in a backup camera, I’ve brought one of those ones that looks like a rear view mirror, it’s got one cable for power and a trigger cable that connects to the tail lights.
The instructions say that you connect the trigger wire to your reversing light wire with a tap, so that when it lights up it switches the screen over to the camera.
My reversing light is on a bank on my rear door, so the cable run is really long and I’d have to take off a lot of panels to connect it and run it all the way around the door and into the tail lights. Which I don’t want to do.
Does anybody know if I can just skip connecting the trigger wire?
There’s a button for manually switching to the camera, so presumably the trigger wire is just to tell the screen to switch over automatically, but I’m not sure. Does it do anything else other than send a signal to switch over?
