Has anyone replaced an old fibreglass hiace rooftop?

Hey guys, just a quick one…
I’ve got an old hiace fibreglass rooftop, very flimsy towards the middle of it.

The van is for my parents, and we are converting her over the next month…

Im tossing up whether or not it’s worth buying a new one, or getting some timber and or steel to batten her up…
Then lay the roof cladding over it, just like the newer models…

Greetings & Welcome!

It should have had both ribs and insulation between the inner and outer shells. Perhaps someone removed them. I’ve seen a lot of bad & dangerous advice by promoters suggesting that people strip out the interior shells and ribs. This is quite possibly what happened and when the previous owner figured out the mistake, they sold it.

Restoring it to it’s original design would be nearly impossible, but installing roll bars could restore the safety aspect, followed by a nice interior to hide the roll bars.

Cheers!
