I recently camped at a KOA campground (just South of Philadelphia), in a tent site with no hookups. It was $55/night. Only a few years ago, I might have paid $10 or $15 / night at many campsites.
There was nothing fancy about the site itself, and it flooded in the rain. It was not level, and I had to drive over a fairly big bump - good thing I have AWD. Fortunately I was car camping. Maybe 30’ from each of the neighboring sites. I was at a college reunion (they ran out of dorm space), and had to pay highway tolls to get there.
The campground did have a bathroom with showers. A pretty long walk from the campsite - so I drove. It also had an outdoor swimming pool and they sometimes ran dances - though I wasn’t there during the hours those were open. The website said you had to register, but I wasn’t there while the office was open, so I called, and they said they would leave a note outside the office - which worked.
Is $55 unreasonable for something so minimal? There was a truck stop about the same distance from the reunion. I’m not sure how they feel about car camping (I have a high station wagon that is nominally a crossover SUV that registers as a truck, but it looks like a car) & how much truck stops charge for showers.
