Greetings!
It’s time to start thinking about Christmas tree jobs again. They’ll be needing trimmers starting soon, followed by harvesters, bundlers, drivers etc.
Then after Thanksgiving, sales lots start opening up, and there’s some really big money to be made there. Many pay per tree rather than hourly, and I’ve known people who made $1,000+ per day! About 15 years ago, I did this, started in Nov with trimming, and stuck with it through sales, Made $40k for 2 months work. ~$30k of it was through sales, which was a different company from the tree farm, but I found them through the tree farm, since that’s where they bought their trees.
Many of the tree lots will pay someone for overnight security too, which is actually how I got started since the sales staff had been filled. Then the second year, when their sales staff was short, they asked if I could do that too, and that’s where the big money is, and the easiest too. I only did the trimming etc. for one year, too much work for me… I did the overnight security only the first year, then added sales about the second week into my second year. I did it for about 5 years total. Starting year 3, I was promoted to cashier, and got paid $10 for every tree sold, the same as the sales people, except I got paid on all their sales, and for the easiest job of all.
Cheers!
