I’m old enough to use the bathroom more often than many of you. I don’t have a van - just a Venza station wagon. I don’t live in it, but sometimes car camp. I’d like to be able to pull over and go to the bathroom in reasonable privacy. And it would be nice for it to be compact enough to use inside a sea kayak if needed.
It should be as as odor free as possible, in between uses, and should be unlikely to spill in the car.
In all cases, I guess I would need to slip on a “changing poncho” to hide what I am doing and enhance privacy. E.g., Changing Towel Poncho (Sarape) Medium Size – COR Surf
I’d like some reviews if people have tried these, or something similar:
For urine, there are two options:
disposable urinals, e.g., https://shop.traveljohn.com
And Pee funnels that feed into urinals, like
What I think is a screw top looks more secure than cheaper urinals found in medical supply stores. The push-on lids are not very secure at all, for car transport.
Obviously, for solid waste, a cassette toilet (that I could dump in a public restroom) like this YITAHOME would be ideal:
But it’s too tall to use on a car seat or inside a kayak, and would take too much space.
The CarLoo is REALLY compact - but maybe it is only big enough for urine. https://thecarloo.com
I notice people suggest putting a puppy training pad or garbage bag underneath, in case of spills - maybe a good idea for other options?
There are a bunch of slightly larger units that might work
ARCITON Amazon.com
YQJ Amazon.com (is it the same?)
YiYou YiYou Portable Car Toilet with Biodegradable Gel Powder – Emergency Travel Toile (cheaper, folding, but no specs - will it take my 140-145 lb weight?)
There are also telescoping models, that might adjust low enough:
Inmorven (maybe too small)
Amazon.com (
Upgrade XL Amazon.com
And here a compact folding model - but needs something under the legs so it doesn’t damage the car seat.
So, reviews, better alternatives & other comments?
