'04 Sprinter Diesel to Gasoline (Engine Swap)

Has anyone attempted or successfully swapped an '04 2.7L OEM Diesel for a 6 cylinder Gas Engine? Or does anyone know if there are any engines out there that would fit the '04? If so would love your advise! Cheers!

Greetings & Welcome!

I’d do a search over on the Sprinter forum at:

It’s been six months since the original post, but I see there was no information given: the 2004 Sprinter in Europe is equipped with the following gasoline engine:
engine code: M 111
models it was available with: 214 314 414
displacement: 2295 cm³
power: 143 KM (105 kW)
torque: 215 Nm

In the next generation Sprinters (2006+), two other gasoline engines were available:
engine type: 1.8 R4
engine code: M 271 E 18 ML
models it was available with: 216 316 316 NGT
displacement: 1796 cm³
power: 156 KM (115 kW) @ 5000 rpm/min
torque 240 Nm @ 2500-5000 rpm/min

engine type: 3.5 V6
engine code: M 272 E 35
models it was available with: 224 324 424 524
displacement: 3498 cm³
power: 258 KM (190 kW) @ 5900 rpm/min
torque 340 Nm @ 2500-5000 rpm

The M271 engine was fitted with a Kompressor.

No idea if the swap would be possible between the 2nd / 3rd generation models, but it should be workable within the same model range.
